A Compatibility Assessment and Verification of Suitable to DICOM of PACS DATA CD - Current Situation Investigation of Korea

Abstract

|
Purpose: To analyze the input and output error of data CD which records the image information and the problems of the server of the compatibility. And to report a compatibility assessment and verification of suitable to DICOM of PACS DATA CD with investigation of current situation of Korea.
Materials and Methods: The compatability assessment of PACS DATA CD carried out the verification about DICOM conformance and functional assessment of DATA CD. For assessment of verification about DICOM conformance, Data CD of each 11 vendors in 30 hospitals was analyzed by using DICOM validation tool kit. The items of analysis of CD function were auto-run, DICOM content type, possibility of send in DICOM view, oneself send facility, etc. And give 1 point for each item, we divided the assessment into 5 levels (poor~excellent). In functional assessment, DATA CD of each 14 vendors in 50 hospitals was analyzed.
Results: As a result of verification about DICOM conformance, 121 validation errors were recurred on 23 CD (76.6%). The items of validation errors were wrong VR for attributes (25%), bad offset calculations in DICOMDIR (20%), etc. The major items of CD function were recognition of storage media (98%), DICOM web type (54%), auto-run(2%), etc. In functional analysis of CD, the average point of DATA CD compatibility is 7 point (very good) in Korea.
Conclusion: Important factor of DICOM conformance is whether modality supports DICOM or not. And the compatibility of PACS DATA CD in Korea is excellent, over 7 point (85%). The analytic items of CD function can become an assessment criteria which is objective and it must be put such problems in the mind when making a DATA CD.
